Elevate has 40 years of experience in roofing solutions that enhance building performance and protect communities. As part of the redevelopment of Gare Maritime in Brussels, Elevate’s Roofing Membrane - RubberGard™ EPDM was applied to waterproof the gutters of the historic freight station.
Once Europe’s largest railway freight station, Gare Maritime has been transformed into a mixed-use space with offices, retail, and recreational areas. Neutelings Riedijk Architects, in collaboration with Bureau Bouwtechniek and JDMA, designed the project to integrate cross-laminated timber within the existing steel structure. This approach reduced the need for concrete, lowering the building’s weight and environmental impact. Sustainability was a key focus, with solar panels installed on the roof and rainwater collected to support the inner gardens.

Elevate’s RubberGard EPDM membrane was selected for its durability, flexibility, and weather resistance. Covering approximately 4,000 m², the membrane ensures long-term protection for the gutters of the seven halls, contributing to the project’s sustainability goals.
