More about this product

Lamberts is a manufacturer of cast glass products for architectural applications, offering high-performance glazing solutions that combine durability, structural performance, and design flexibility. LINIT EcoGlass Profiled Glass from Lamberts was used for the Heat Supply Zurich West – Josefstrasse CHP Plant, designed by Graber Pulver Architects and Meyer Partner Architekten, in Zurich, Switzerland.

LINIT EcoGlass Profiled Glass at Josefstrasse CHP Plant

The renovation of the Josefstrasse combined heat and power (CHP) plant modernized one of Zurich's key energy facilities while introducing a distinctive architectural identity. The project is crowned by a cylindrical chimney enclosure approximately 90 metres above ground, where a shimmering metal crown defines the skyline. Measuring more than 10 metres in diameter, over four metres in height, and weighing 14 tonnes, the structure was assembled at ground level before being lifted into place in a single crane operation. Beyond the chimney, the redevelopment also included a new façade for the energy centre, reinforcing the project's contemporary industrial character.

LINIT EcoGlass Profiled Glass at Josefstrasse CHP Plant

LINIT EcoGlass was specified for both the chimney crown and the building façade, creating a durable exterior envelope suited to the demanding conditions of an energy infrastructure facility. The architects combined toughened LINIT Moiré with Azure coating and toughened LINIT 504 to achieve a façade that balances performance with visual depth. During the evening, carefully integrated lighting produces subtle shadow effects across the profiled glass surface, emphasizing the material's texture while highlighting the plant as a landmark within Zurich's urban landscape. Available in custom glass thicknesses, web widths, and flange heights, the system provides the flexibility required for complex architectural applications.
