More about this product

Siller Treppen is a company that specializes in creating unique staircase designs that are tailored to meet the specific requirements of each project. In 2019 BIG Architects featured Siller Treppen's Glass Stairs in The Twist Museum.

The Kistefos Sculpture Park, established in the late 1990s, is now home to The Twist Museum. The new addition complements the park's art path, which showcases works by renowned contemporary artists such as Anish Kapoor, Olafur Eliasson, Fernando Bottero, and Elmgreen & Dragset. The project's site is located in Jevnaker, just an hour's drive north of Oslo, and is nestled by the banks of the river Randselva, with the sculpture park spanning both embankments and linked by an old bridge.

Designed by BIG, The Twist Museum is envisioned as a sleek beam that spans the Randselva and serves as a secondary bridge for the Sculpture Park. The structure's simple architectural twist allows it to rise from the lower wooded area to the south, and up to the hillside in the north, creating a blend of vertical and horizontal spaces. The gallery's skylight transitions from vertical to horizontal, providing a mix of natural and artificial lighting.

Characteristics

Inside The Twist, a fanning 13 m Glass Staircase developed by Siller Treppen operates as both seating and a platform for various artistic displays and events. The staircase also functions as the restroom's ceiling, which because of its transparent material creates a whimsical lighting effect on the room.
