The AlusionTM panels by Cymat Technologies Ltd. are patented aluminium panels that can be used as furnishings in any architectural and design endeavors.
These stabilized aluminium foam sheets were used in the renovation for the Gomez & Molina jewellery in a corner of the historic center of Marbella. From this corner, the facade clad with AlusionTM sheets frames its main square and receives visitors as they arrive at the site. The intervention consisted of a complete refurbishment inside and outside the store, and the incorporation of a vertical garden to its main facade.

The intervention at Gomez & Molina incorporates the AlusionTM Small Cell-One Side Open panels to its facade across the walls and the folding window covers. Inside the shop, the same small cell-one side open panneling in the walls offers visitors a sense of continuity as they enter the rooms. At night, the folding covers shut down and create the illusion of a classic silver jewelry box.
The interior space presents customers with a single, open space assembled in a straight layout that intends continuity from the outside by the repetition of materials and the panoramic views of the square. The design within the shop combines tailor-made furnishings of lacquered wood with AlusionTM panels.

The vertical garden on top of the shop is the first in the historic center, made of over a thousand plants through a fito-textile system patented by Sevilla University, that considers the particularities of the local climate and ecosystem in its design and plant selection.
The furniture was specially designed and lacquered to preserve the intended openness of the room’s disposition.
The panels that cover the facade and the window shutters, as well as the panels inside the shop, are presented in standard flat rectangular sheets. The AlusionTM Stabilized Aluminium Foam sheets are made by the injection of air into a molten ceramic and aluminium mixture, a process that creates a bubble-like appearance which, depending on the air-to-metal ratio requested, allows for varying degrees of depth and texture across the width of a lightweight panel.
