More about this product

The External Venetian Blind range from Shade Factor is designed to create comfortable, energy-efficient internal spaces. Venetian slats serve the dual purpose of modulating sunlight and creating privacy. The blinds are designed to complement the look of most architectural designs. Special slat types are available for meeting a variety of sun-shading scenarios.

Benefits and Features

  • Heat gain through glass can be reduced by up to 90% (depending on glazing, window specifications, and other factors), which keeps the internal temperature more consistent and cuts down on the need for air conditioning
  • Occupants can still enjoy the view out whilst controlling the intensity of natural light via the tilting slats; daytime lighting costs are greatly reduced
  • In winter, external Venetian blinds act as an insulator, helping to conserve heat and reduce artificial heating
  • Combined with sophisticated climate monitoring and automation, external venetians become a living element of the facade, adapting and moving to maintain optimum light and internal comfort
  • Shade Factor's external Venetian blinds are accredited non-combustible under the NCC
  • Extensive color range available, special colors can be manufactured for large projects

Available Slat Profiles

  • S Rolled-Edge Slats
  • Flat-Edge Slats
  • Dim-Out Slats
  • Cedar Slat

The rolled edge profile is the most popular style due to its concave-convex blade with the advantage of a rolled-over edge for extra wind stability. The blade rotates through 160°.

External System Types

ProVisio External Venetian Blinds

ProVisio is an exclusive, internationally award-winning innovation by Warma that improves an essential characteristic of external Venetian blinds. Used in conjunction with any of Shade Factor's slat profiles, ProVisio offers a slat tilting system that aligns the slats with the angle of sight. This improves the view from the inside by 25% while also increasing privacy from the outside looking in.

This product is suitable for commercial facades, luxury apartments including balcony edge applications (with wind censoring), double skin facades, mid-rise buildings up to 12 levels depending on the location, ESD buildings for Green Star compliance, low-rise buildings in very high wind-speed locations, facilities where the blinds must be almost permanently down

Benefits and Features

  • Increases view out by 25 percent compared to standard external Venetian blinds o Varying inclination throughout the length of the slat
  • Available in both the rolled edge and dim-out version of the 80mm slat

Asymmetric External Venetian Blinds

Shade Factor asymmetrical external Venetian blinds provide complete exterior sun-shading control to asymmetrical window shapes. Designers now have the freedom to include a range of window designs in areas subject to high radiant load. The unique telescopic base rail together with an advanced mechanical operating system allows this type of external venetian blind to both tilt and fully retract.

This product is suitable for 4-sided shapes where the vertical edges are parallel, multisided shapes divisible into elements with vertical parallel edges, Glazed gable ends, glazing under skillion roofs, and parallelograms for example at staircase voids

Benefits and Features

  • Small packet size with special flexible alloy slat material
  • Fully adjustable and retractable, motorized operation only
  • Range of shapes possible up to 80 mm slat width
  • Good wind stability (10-12 m/s) when installed close to the glass
  • Tilts through 80 degrees

Wind-stable external Venetian Blinds

External sun shading in exposed locations poses additional challenges. Warma's range of Wind-Stable External Venetian Blinds extends their use to mid-rise buildings up to approximately 12 levels or applications where the acceptable wind threshold is 90 km/h. The wind stable profile offers the rigidity of a rolled edge slat with a unique particular interlocking shape that forms a firmly braced plane against wind pressure.
Furthermore two forms of guidance work in unison to securely anchor the slat ends, and a partitioning guide rail profile ensures that vacuum effects on the building side are minimized.

This product is suitable for mid-rise buildings that typically have up to 12 levels depending on the location, ESD buildings for Green Star compliance, low-rise buildings in very high wind-speed locations, and facilities where the blinds must be almost permanently down.

Benefits and Features

  • Unique S shape with noise-deadening rubber inserts
  • Multifold geometry provides excellent rigidity
  • Unique profile with low stacking depth
  • Special guide rails to reduce local air pressures
  • Daylight guidance feature available
  • Special ladder cords that provide complete slat closure for Tilts through 90 degrees
