Ceramic Fabric System in House Golf Prellosa | Flexbrick

An exclusive PGA Golf Resort project in Caldes de Malavella, Barcelona uses the Flexbrick ceramic system to create a unique expression of the material. Designed by architectural firm TDB, the project included the restoration and redesign of an existing historic building. A major part of this was to recover the traditional Catalan vault which was lost due to cultural changes.

Design Solution

To recover and highlight the Catalan vault, the innovative system of construction from Flexbrick offered a solution to bring a glamorous rustic and modern style to the space. The result is an increase in luminosity and spaciousness, combining tradition and contemporaneity in perfect harmony.

The solution also offered an element of sustainability, as the ceramics used on the ceiling are manufactured completely with biogas, a unique process that leads to a great reduction in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
