Project Requirements

Phase one of the project included the restoration of the silo behind the main Museum building. It was important that the renovation was appropriate to the original structure so that the visual effect of the refurbishment didn't disturb.

Sika Solutions

  • The old concrete of the silos was coated with Sikagard®-706 W Thixo as a protective coating and water-repellent impregnation.
  • The external facade was covered in Sika® Ferrogard®-903.
  • For the main Museum building, concrete barriers were securely grouted in place with SikaGrout®-212.
  • To seal the joints, Sikaflex® AT-Facade sealant proved to be the most effective solution.
  • SikaTop® Armatec®-110 EpoCem® was employed to provide an effective anti-corrosion coating on reinforcing steel before epoxy applications for new concrete adhesion against old concrete
  • Sikadur®-31 CF Normal was used for doweling on site of the rebar
  • The rooftop was coated in Sikalastic®-8800
  • The entire face of the square building in front of the silos was coated with Sikalastic®-152.
  • The staircase and landings of the building were coated with Sikafloor®-263 SL, Sikafloor®-264 and Sikafloor® 66 ZA matt used as a topcoat
  • The main timber floor running throughout the museum was coated with Sika Comfortfloor®.
