North East Futures UTC located in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK is a university that in 2018 refurbished one of its buildings, to generate a space where students would want to congregate, with the requirement of high levels of natural light and ventilation.
To accomplish this, the architects from Xsite Architecture chose VELUX Modular Skylights because of the aesthetics of the slim frames and superior sightlines, because they have a tighter in-plane profile, that creates a slimmer aesthetic, and also because they are fully pre-fabricated offsite, which reduces the installation times as much as a third compared to traditional skylights.

Longlight 5-30°
This VELUX Modular Skylight, is a solution composed of a single row of modules, able to light up hallways, corridors, and large rooms. Using multiple rows it's ideal for large open areas.
Longlight can reduce the cost and speed up the interior work, and has a subtle expression.
Ridgelight 25-40°
This VELUX Modular Skylight, is a classic rooflight solution, composed of two rows of modular skylights connected at the ridge.
Ridgelight 25-40° is ideal for building with large roof openings, providing ventilation on buildings that require day or night cooling, ensuring maximum daylight and thermal comfort.
This solution is self-supporting and can be supplied with different types of glazing, as a way to control heat and glare.
Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45°
This VELUX Modular Skylight, is used to connect different building heights, and it's composed of modules mounted against a vertical wall at the top of the modules.
Wall-mounted Longhlight 5-45° brings light further into the building, and enables innovative solutions for new buildings and extensions, and is easy and fast to install.
Northlight 25-90°
This VELUX Modular Skylight, is composed of row modules, that can provide large amounts of glare-free daylight.
Northlight 25-90° is ideal for spaces that require soft light and does not require sub-construction for installation. This solution allows fast and easy closure of the roof, reducing costs, and can be applied in sloped, shed or saw tooth roofs.
