Possibility of upright design, prevents glare and lets in a soft light when facing north, deisgned for installation directly in sloped roofs without adding a sub-construction
The Old Royal Station located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, ceased operations in 1966 and is currently used as a tourist information center and museum, as a way of celebrating its rich heritage. In 2015 the building was devastated by fire, damaging 90% of the structure, so it was restored by Halliday Fraser Munro architects in 2017/2018.
Because the original building had rooflights, for the restoration new rooflights that were as similar as the originals as possible were chosen, but these new rooflights required to have a system that was more energy efficient. So the architects selected VELUX Modular Skylights due to their sustainability credentials, slim profiles, and exceptional energy performance.
About Northlight 25-90°
This VELUX Modular Skylight, is composed of row modules, that can provide large amounts of glare-free daylight.
Northlight 25-90° is ideal for spaces that require soft light and does not require a sub-construction for installation. This solution allows fast and easy closure of the roof, reducing costs, and can be applied in sloped, shed or saw tooth roofs.
