The interior free-standing screens from Sculptform are available in both timber and aluminum battens. The screen system has been designed to prevent unwanted movement and use completely hidden fixings. This connection provides a ‘floating’ look with neat shadow gaps to the top and bottom.
The screens utilize an aluminum top and bottom track with a mortice and tenon connection to hold each batten in place. If the designer wants to achieve an even more discreet fixing, the tenons can be fixed directly to the floor or ceiling which eliminates the need for the top and bottom track entirely. For large batten spans, a mid support rod, comprised of a threaded rod and spacers, is available. The rod runs through pre-drilled holes and uses spacer sleeves to help prevent movement and keep the battens straight.
Sculptform offers a range of profiles and lengths in either timber or aluminum to meet the specific design intent of each project.
Timber Battens
Timber battens add warmth and natural feel to interior environments. As a natural material, however, it is prone to unwanted movement as the material expands and contracts in relation to moisture levels in its environment. Screens are particularly vulnerable to movement due to the slim batten dimensions and the small number of fixings.
Sculptform brings their extensive experience of working with natural timber with detailed recommendations for batten size, length and screen fixings to reduce this unwanted movement in the finished screen and are available to consult on the particulars of each project.
Aluminum Battens
Aluminum battens are a great option when greater spans and fewer fixings are required. Lengths of up to 6.2m are available with fixings at up to 6m spacing allowing for quick and easy installation of large-scale screens.
Where a timber look is desired for large-scale screens, timber-look wrapped aluminum blades can be used.
