More about this product

Lumion Pro Student is rendering software created with a purpose — to give architecture students a professional tool that emboldens the craft and inspires your vision for the final result.

Lumion Pro Student is completely free for full-time students at universities, colleges, and other higher learning institutions. Lumion Pro Student is available as a direct download in many countries, which means you can download Lumion right from the website.

In some countries, you may need to contact your local partner to get the free student version.

If you are an educator or faculty administrator and you would like to install Lumion on multiple computers (such as your university computer lab), then we also have the Lumion Faculty version, a perpetual license optimized for classes and larger student groups. Educators can download Lumion Faculty from here.

What’s in the Lumion educational version?

With the Lumion educational version, realizing your vision for the design has never been easier. New features such as orthographic views reduce the effort needed to create plan and section views full of life, color, and your own unique flavor. With animated phasing, you can show how the parts of your building connect and interact, creating a dance and a dialogue with the viewer.

Raindrops streak down the glass, volumetric fire casts a soft glow. The grass is softer, the light and shadow are more precise.

From a wave of workflow and performance improvements to innovative features that capture the nuances of life, Lumion energizes your professional output, brings joy to the rendering process, and helps you, the architect, focus on what really matters to you. To view the full range of features in Lumion, check out the ‘Features’ and ‘What’s new’ pages.

The individual Lumion Pro Student version is valid for one year, and you can renew and upgrade your license easily as long as you’re still a student. Lumion Faculty, the version for educators and faculty administrators, is a perpetual license with automatic upgrades.

System requirements

The Lumion educational version requires an up-to-date Windows 10 operating system, a fast graphics card, and an internet connection.

How does Lumion work?

No matter your CAD software, you can import your model(s) into Lumion and, within minutes, begin sculpting and shaping the real-life or conceptual context around your design. Lumion LiveSync allows you to create a real-time rendering connection with several design programs, including Revit, SketchUp, ArchiCAD, Rhino, Vectorworks, AutoCAD, and BricsCAD.

You can craft your vision of the design with over 6,000 models and 1,250 materials in the Lumion content library, giving you unlimited possibilities to show your exterior, interior, landscape, or urban designs. With OpenStreetMaps, it’s possible to import the context of your project’s real-life location (including the height and satellite maps) in seconds.

Over 60 effects for images, animations, and 360 panoramas (easily viewable in VR devices) make it easy to capture the beauty and emotion of your project. You can control lighting and shadow, personalize a photorealistic environment surrounding the design, animate the construction and life of your project, and much more.

With Lumion as part of your architecture and design toolbox, you can quickly render stunning results for critiques at architecture school, collaborate with classmates using realistic or artistic visualizations, or make last-minute design changes.
