StoVentec by Sto is a range of seamless rainscreen cladding façade systems that are used to thermally insulate new and existing loadbearing walls. The systems are mechanically fixed to a substrate using a proprietary sub-construction, which can be designed to Passivhaus standards and allows for considerable adjustment of substrate unevenness. The ventilated cavity, which acts as an air/water barrier, also regulates the building’s moisture content and helps with pressure equalization with the outside environment.
Depending on the façade finish or cladding chosen for the system, a sound insulation improvement ranging from 12 to 18dB is possible. The Sto system uses a lightweight, recycled glass carrier board to provide a level backing for a range of plaster and cladding materials. The board is reinforced with either a cement-based or synthetic thin coat reinforcement layer that contains an embedded glass fibre mesh.
A variation of the system using panelised glass boards provides an attractive and robust alternative.
