The Colombian Society of Architects, aiming to strengthen the promotion of sustainable architecture in Colombia and with the mission of consolidating this effort through concrete incentives, is calling for project submissions for the "III Award for Excellence in Sustainable Architecture – Vidrio Andino."

The team behind "Reimagining the Railway Landscape: Heritage Infrastructures of the Southern Railway in the Maule Region" (file no. 674719), a project funded by the 2023 Fondart Regional (Dissemination line, single modality), invites submissions for a publication that will accompany the project's upcoming exhibition.

The competition aims to select an urban renewal project for the area surrounding the Mercado Municipal Paulistano. This area currently encompasses a range of functions beyond commerce, having evolved into a central tourist hub for the city.

The competition seeks two complementary approaches: a strategic intervention plan covering an area accessible within a 15-minute walk, with the Market at its center, and a set of physical interventions to improve the space within a broader twelve-block perimeter, addressing key urban challenges in the area, such as the relationship with the Tamanduateí River and the railway line.

"Entreplanos: Cinema, City, Architecture" is an open-call competition for short films of up to two minutes, shot entirely on a mobile phone. Entries must address themes related to the city and architecture.

The São Paulo State Government, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, presents the exhibition “Artacho Jurado in the City’s Design” at the Galeria da Cidade. The exhibition, which focuses on the self-taught architect who designed and built landmarks of modern São Paulo such as the Bretagne, Cinderela, and Louvre buildings, opens to the public on Saturday, September 4—the date marking the 114th anniversary of his birth. Escola da Cidade’s open courses are short-term and cover a diverse range of topics. They are intended for those interested in expanding dialogues on subjects such as history, anthropology, technology, economics, photography, literature, design, and music, among others, through cross-disciplinary perspectives on architecture and the city.

Applications for the lato sensu postgraduate program at Escola da Cidade are open until March 11, 2022. Established over 10 years ago, the program consists of seven courses and is structured around two central aspects: practice and design methodology, understood as research and a strategy for engaging with space across its multiple scales. The program’s overarching theme is "Civilization America: A Look Through Architecture," which proposes understanding and addressing the historical, geographical, territorial, and social conditions that define us. Through this lens, Escola da Cidade’s postgraduate courses aim to connect professionals working in architecture, urbanism, and related fields with research and critical reflection applied to design and education.

The 11th edition of the International Festival of Urban Interventions (FIIU 11) will take place from October 21 to 24, 2026, in Lima, Peru, establishing itself as a key space for exchange, reflection, and collective action regarding the urban challenges facing Latin America.

For this issue of Dearq, "The Spatial Dimension of Urban Mobility," we are seeking contributions that critically analyze the interrelationships between urban mobility, space, and the territorial dimension, while considering social dynamics and environmental aspects. We place special emphasis on understanding how mobility practices, policies, and projects interact with the built environment and contribute to producing—or transforming—urban and regional landscapes.
