Austrian architects Coop Himmelb(l)au shared with us their winning scheme for ‘The New Parliamentary Complex of the Republic of Albania’. The building, located on a site area with approximately 28,000 m², is going to be the first project in Albania for the Viennese headquartered studio. Farewell Chapel / Arhitektura Krušec The location at the top of a small slope in the middle of the village cemetery is characterised by beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The New York Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects [NYCOBA]has planned a Portfolio + Resume review day for graduating college seniors and young professionals seeking feedback on their portfolio as well as some advice about the interview/job hunting process.
We saw this incredible set of posters from iconic architects created by artist Andrea Gallo and felt the need to share them with you. They will be available for sale soon, so we look forward to buy one and decorate our office! Which one would you get? V&A at Dundee, housed in a landmark building on the bank of the River Tay, will be Scotland’s leading centre for design. This display will showcase the six outstanding designs shortlisted for the V&A at Dundee building, including the winning submission from Kengo Kuma and Associates.

Building In Lagoa das Furnas / Aires Mateus The project intends to evoke the architectural landscape of the Azores, drawing upon the form and material that embed the collective memory of this island and archipelago, that have become, with time, a second nature of this place. Parramatta City Council is officially on the hunt for the boldest, most innovative and creative thinkers to present their vision for an iconic site along the scenic Parramatta River foreshore as part of an international ideas competition, ‘Ideas on Edge’. Prize money of $50,000 is on offer for a commercially viable idea for the site located at a prime position on the edge of Parramatta River, with the competition open to people of all ages and backgrounds from around the world.

The European Commission and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation recently announced the six finalists competing for the 2011 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – the Mies van der Rohe Award. They have been shortlisted from 343 works in 33 European countries. The award ceremony will take place on June 20 at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona, Spain.

We’ve told you before about “Metropol Parasol”, the Redevelopment of Plaza de la Encarnación in Sevilla, designed by J. MAYER H. Architects. March 27 marks the opening, while the final completion of the project is scheduled for April 2011. More images and complete press release after the break.

Zoo Veterinary Hospital / Carreño Sartori Arquitectos In the Veterinary Hospital, a single building on a restricted site, must collect the programmatic complexity. At street level the veterinary requirements and animal recovery rooms are designed with easy vehicle and stretchers access. A 50 cm. height base, separates the outside ground, setting a distance between a sterile interior and the pollution from a path that serves other uses (read more…)
