The Vienna Architecture Summer School (VAS²) aims to provide an open learning space and prototypical infrastructure for the exchange and negotiation of knowledges in architecture, reaching beyond dominating institutions and mainstream discourses. VAS² invites local and international participants to exchange with young architects and established experts all practising in Vienna and beyond.

Join Hamptons 20th Century Modern on a tour of 6 iconic modernist properties in the Hamptons. All private residences, guests will be granted rare access into these early architectural gems and learn about the history and design of each home from their knowledgeable docents. Hamptons 20th Century Modern is a non-profit organization promoting greater awareness and conservancy of residences designed in the modern American vernacular on Long Island, New York. Through their home tours, the organization hopes to amplify the importance of this American architectural typology.

The exhibition's journey, in itself, is a traversal between languages and serves as a metaphor for the ideological translation of its contents. Throughout the exhibit, imperfect interpretations of the work occur through a series of translucent yet opaque textiles that divide the gallery interior. These textiles separate the viewer from the exhibited material and concurrently serve as corridors through the space. The fabric's optical quality forms ethereal, wispy projections that lie just beyond the grasp of perception. By selectively concealing architectural models, allusions are made to the discovery and realization of an idea during the design process. Ideas with hazy, undefined edges that reside within the realm of consciousness until they are translated into reality. Shadows cast by the concealed models lurk and sway in the exhibition room, like scattered concepts, observed by the visitor as they enter the designer's mind. These ideas float in space as a collection of imagined architecture. Through our installation, the intention is to tear away the boundaries of the built environment, represented physically by Tadao Ando's architecture. How the building and the exhibition interact will serve as an investigation into a situational approach to architecture that revels in distortion and ambiguity.

Hanoi’s development has experienced a turbulent history with more than a thousand years of foreign influence from China, French colonization (1873-1954), and socialism following the model of the USSR (1945-1986). Since 1986, Vietnam’s Đổi Mới economic reforms brought rapid urbanization and growth as well as greater connection to the global capitalist market. All these economic and political transitions had a significant impact on the development of housing in the city.

To respond to the unique opportunities of each client and site, Bates Masi + Architects has developed an approach rather than a devotion to a particular style. Careful study of the needs of the site and owners uncovers a guiding concept particular to each project. That concept is distilled to its essence so that it can inform the design at all scales, from massing to materials to details. The consistency of the concept is evident in the finished product. The result is an architecture that is cohesive, innovative, contextual, and full of details that delight.

The unprecedented growth faced by the Chinese cities in the last decades entailed seriousconsequences: economic and social disparities, environmental crises, and demographic imbalances between the rural and the urban areas. These issues, together with a growing awareness of the intrinsic unsustainability of Chinese economic model, has stimulat d debate on how redefining the approach to urban development.

Barcelona offers a prime example of the co-housing model as an asset prized for its use value as opposed to investment. This book is a compilation of cooperative housing projects in Barcelona, both complete and under construction. It explains how the co-housing process is managed in terms of architecture, urban planning, financing, legality, and taxation, and delves into the experience of living in a community fueled by a cooperative spirit.
The content of the book presents designs for cooperative housing, accompanied by a critical vision of the model’s implications in terms of the transfer of use or co-living. Finished and inhabited projects are compiled along with ongoing projects, to offer a general view of this way of living in Barcelona. The case studies are explained by members of cooperatives, experts and designers who look at aspects of design, sustainability, construction and urban life. This book is a tool for understanding the design and construction of co-housing and the community life that goes on there.

Mobility questions our ways of inhabiting the city. They are attached to multiple social approaches, constrained by the geography of the city and linked to the available energies. However, their deployments and their effects in the urban space remain little studied as an everyday experience. The frequentation of the city is mainly observed as a saturation or an animation and in an abstract and numerical way. But what is the nature of the movements in the cities, the daily life of more than half of the inhabitants of the planet? Resulting from a crossroads, the city has grown so much that we no longer look at how people meet in the central squares. What are the speeds, rhythms, interactions, trajectories, specificities in an urban square?
Many data relate to flows, but most often with a finality on the speed of movement. GPS navigators are first made to connect a point A to B with a minimum time, and not for the study of the dynamics and the diversity of movements. Each moving element draws paths with its own rhythms which are factors of animation and encounter. We propose this exploration on a human scale on 8 cases around the world.

The first architectural exhibition at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC) in 2023 will officially open on Tuesday, July 18. "Infinity Ground - Thailand and Taiwan Contemporary Architecture Exhibition" is organized by The Association of Siamese Architects Under Royal Patronage and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture (Taiwan), and in cooperation with Chulalongkorn University - Faculty of Architecture, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang - School of Architecture, Art, and Design, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi - School of Architecture and Design, and Silpakorn University - Faculty of Architecture.

This 10-day workshop will be a collaborative experience, allowing for various ways of involvement through presentations, seminars, collaborative work sessions, site visits, city trips and more!
