Escola da Cidade presents the "Casas Paulistas 2000 - 2017" exhibition

The exhibition presents a sample of contemporary residential production through a selection of 12 houses built in the São Paulo metropolitan area, featuring works by the offices SPBR, MMBB, SIAA, Grupo SP, Longato Pirondi, Apiacás, Brasil Arquitetura, Andrade Morettin, UNA, Obra, Terra e Tuma, and Drucker Arquitetura.

WHAT IS MAU?

The Architecture and Urbanism Moment at the Federal University of Paraíba (MAU-UFPB) is an annual, non-profit event organized by students in collaboration with the Academic Center for the Architecture and Urbanism Program (CACAU-UFPB). It aims to foster participatory and democratic discussions regarding the proposed theme within the field of architecture and urbanism. The event is structured around various activities planned according to specific themes, organized into discussion circles, lectures, workshops, experiential sessions, and conferences. Much like the National Federation of Architecture and Urbanism Students (FeNEA), the event aims to foster a creative, innovative, collaborative, human-centered, and socially conscious education, with the goal of expanding student participation as citizens within the student movement and as future professionals.

Exhibition "22@_What? How to achieve balance in Northern Poblenou, Barcelona"

For the eighth consecutive year, the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture is hosting an exhibition of final degree projects at the restored Ca l'Alier factory in the Poblenou district. Titled "22@_What? How to achieve balance in Northern Poblenou, Barcelona," the exhibition reexamines the 22@ Plan, launched by the Barcelona City Council in 2000 to repurpose the neighborhood's former industrial zones. The plan aimed to create a compact city model where businesses, universities, research centers, and technology transfer hubs could coexist with housing, public facilities, and green spaces. Twenty years later, UIC Barcelona students have taken up the challenge, presenting new programmatic and architectural proposals for Northern Poblenou—a territory they believe is in need of new solutions and patterns.

Open House Madrid 2019 will honor the legacy of Miguel Fisac and promote initiatives for civic engagement.

Open House is an architecture and city festival that takes place one weekend a year in more than 40 cities around the world. For two days, the doors of dozens of public buildings, workspaces, residences, and artist and architect studios that are not usually accessible to the public are opened. It is a free event for the public that promotes knowledge of the city and recognition of the value of urban space. In Madrid, it is a project by the non-profit association Culture Care.

Lecture by Elizabeth de Portzamparc at IED on her projects in France and China

Architect and urban planner Elizabeth de Portzamparc, who has been based in Paris for 50 years, has distinguished herself through large-scale projects that won major international competitions in France and China. On Thursday, March 21, 2019, she will speak at the IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Urca, Rio de Janeiro, on "New architecture and the architecture of connections." During the talk, she will address her key projects and the set of ethical concepts she advocates for 21st-century architecture—such as sustainable development, social connections, respect for the urban context, and flexibility for the future, which opens possibilities for subsequent interventions. On this occasion, she will also launch her monographic book, which traces her professional trajectory.
