A’ Design Award & Competition, the world’s largest and most diffused international design awards announced results of the 2016 - 2017 design competition: 1959 winners from 98 countries in 97 different design disciplines. The challenge posed by this competition is to design a place object which encapsulates the ideas behind the topic of “Architecture and Water”. It involves creating a place to showcase Lausanne’s Candidature which offers an intuitive approach to the multiple ramifications of this topic. It should, effectively, act as a laboratory of ideas. This place-object must be able to house a table and 4 chairs for discussions, presentation of the candidature, etc. It will be located in the hall of the Convention center in Seoul.
More than half of America’s waterbodies are unsafe for swimming, fishing, and as sources of drinking due to city building and farming. Beyond water quality problems, dysfunctional streams cause flooding and erosion of property leading to neighborhood blight. Not only can this be reversed, but repair of degraded urban streams can be a powerful agent for reinventing the physical environments of post-industrial cities. This requires transdisciplinary collaboration between the fields of ecological engineering and urban design.

The European two phases Urban Design Competition promoted by the Municipality of Bergamo will transform the center of the Lower City asking Italian and international designers proposals to overhaul open areas, public squares and spaces and new functions for the discarded buildings. The Architectural Association Myanmar Visiting School aims to provide space and support to invigorate the architectural use of Myanmar's local bamboo resources. The project will revitalize local, traditional bamboo use techniques, and where applicable, combine them with current international best practices in the use of bamboo. It will promote the application of bamboo as an environmentally sound, renewable, and practical means to increasing and sustaining local craftsmanship, sustainable livelihoods, cultural heritage, while supporting carbon sequestering and environmental protection in the region.
The Black Taj Mahal (Persian/Urdu: لحم جات ہایس “Black Taj”, also “the 2nd Taj”) was supposed to be a legendary black marble mausoleum that was planned to be built across the Yamuna River directly opposite the Taj Mahal. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan is widely believed to have desired a mausoleum for himself similar to the one he had built in memory of his deceased wife, Mumtaz Mahal. There has always been a debate in the archaeological and historian circles regarding the authenticity of the plan for the Black Taj. . What if it was supposed to exist and NOW, we vest this opportunity upon YOU, how would you build the Black Taj? . What we are really are looking at is an idea, that can exhibit the Mughal contribution in the sub-continent right next to ‘the place which frames its summit’.
