The work of Álvaro Siza is revisited through the lens of Pedro Cardigo, who returns to the black-and-white origins of early architectural publications, evoking “the wise, correct, and magnificent play of volumes assembled under the light”—as Le Corbusier would say. Step by step, both seek this light in silence, patiently revealing the (un)expected, the never-before-seen framing, the architect's precise vision, and the photographer's emotional record, or vice versa. The discovery of L'Architecture d'Aujourd'Hui in the early 1950s had a profound impact on Siza, instantly triggering the conception of his seminal works, like snapshots.

Book "Beagá Decô - Graphic Heritage from the City to Paper" to be launched on October 26 in Belo Horizonte

Aiming to safeguard part of the memory of Art Deco architecture in Belo Horizonte—which became popular as a decorative element on the facades and parapets of commercial and residential houses in the capital of Minas Gerais starting in the 1930s—graphic artist and associate professor at the UFMG School of Fine Arts, Fernanda Goulart, will launch her new book, Beagá Decô - Patrimônio gráfico da cidade ao papel, on October 26 at 10:00 AM at the Mercado da Lagoinha, in the neighborhood of the same name.

The exhibition “Carmen Portinho: A Pioneer of Urbanism in Brazil” presents a series of photographs, drawings, and facsimiles that highlight the leading role of Carmen Velasco Portinho in the proposals and programs within the field of modern national architecture and urbanism. The exhibition is installed on the 5th floor of the Jorge Machado Moreira Building, at the University City. The opening takes place this Friday, October 18, at 10:00 AM.
