TANDEM, work by Frederik Fialin and Réjean Peytavin

In occasion of Milan Design Week 2024 Oxilia presents the duo exhibition ‘Tandem’.
The gallery will showcase the minimalist furniture by Danish designer Frederik Fialin, whose practice straddling art and industrial design seamlessly fits into the gallery’s curatorial path, engaging in dialogue with ceramics and tapestries from the ‘Traduslation’ series by French-Swiss artist Réjean Peytavin. In this series, Peytavin’s unmistakably non-conventional approach to exploring production techniques shines through.

Homeplace - A Love Letter

For the forthcoming installation "Homeplace", Matri-Archi(tecture) re-imagines and re-configures the Rotunda at the Pinakothek der Moderne, as a site for critical reflections on the spatiality of dwelling, sharing with–and inviting–visitors to consider what forms and imaginings a home might invoke and hold. In coming together, Matri-Archi(tecture) interrogates the plurality of a homeplace, not fixed in scale, duration or state. Through assemblages of textile, sound and storytelling–mythical, speculative and performative–the installation explores commonalities and possible forms of place-making by centering the homeplace as a place that is both affective and intimate, revealing the dimensions of personal, interpersonal and embodied experiences of belonging.

DENOISE - IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) Presents Video Mapping Installation at Alcova

IED - an international network of prestigious design and visual arts schools - is participating in Miami Art & Design Week for the first time with an exciting experiential exhibit at Alcova. A nod to both the site and Gruppo T (a group of Italian cinematic artists from the 1950s), Denoise is a collective video mapping artwork developed by students in IED Milano’s Master Course in Visual Arts for the Digital Age. Combining volumes, surfaces, and sound over several levels of narration, the installation will transform Room 35 into a multi-sensory experience, inviting participants to accept the unknown (equated with noise) as an integral part of our existence.

2023 NTCAM On the Move: Interweaving Travelers

The inspiration behind the name "游人如織" (Interweaving Travelers) is derived from a Chinese idiom, symbolizing the countless travelers as intricately woven pieces of brocade, layer upon layer. The exhibition's concept expands upon this metaphor with the aim of exploring the interconnectivity and complexity of global mobility. Especially in the post-pandemic era, as people once again regain the "freedom" to move, this exhibition, on the one hand, examines the co-constructive relationship between mobility and contemporary globalization, and, on the other hand, seeks to critically reexamine the fundamental essence of "mobility," exploring its potential to transcend national governance, geopolitical conflicts, and the influence of capitalist expansion.

Sergei Tchoban - Towers

The year 2023 marks the celebration of the 850th anniversary of the start of construction on the Tower of Pisa. To mark the occasion, the Museo della Grafica Palazzo Lanfranchi is holding an exhibition of drawings by the architect Sergei Tchoban. In his work as an architect and in his drawings, he has constantly treated the tower as a type of building.
There have never been so many towers as there are today. Never have they been so ubiquitous. Tower building has become a challenge for architects all over the world. Even those who do not find the task particularly appealing must come to terms with tower construction. For it is precisely in the architecture of towers that the latest techniques and materials are tested in order to reach and exceed aesthetic as well as physical limits.
Sergei Tchoban is very familiar with the history of architecture from his studies at the Petersburg Academy. This history is reflected both in his own design work and in his drawings. The Museo della Grafica Palazzo Lanfranchi in Pisa has taken the 850th anniversary of the Tower of Pisa as the occasion for this exhibition, bringing together around 90 drawings that Tchoban has made on his numerous journeys, especially in Italy, and which in many cases combine the reproduction of what he saw with his own reflections on architecture. In six chapters, the exhibition presents through the architect’s drawings views of individual towers, reflections on the history of tower architecture and on the political role of towers and the threats they pose.
Tchoban’s interest in the multifaceted phenomenon of tower construction is evident in the abundance of drawings in which the architect depicts these buildings, imagined as well as real towers or a combination of both. Drawing, with its capacity to make the imagined as vivid as the real, proves to be the apt medium for Tchoban to express his thoughts on tower architecture.
