The architecture firm Hauser (Argentina), alongside architects Mathías Klotz (Chile) and Edgardo Minond (Argentina), has presented its project 'BRUSCO,' a large-scale mixed-use development with a significant urban impact. Located opposite Montevideo's City Hall, the complex will integrate diverse programs, including an open-air retail promenade, a city hotel, public and private parking, residential units, and offices. The project is already under construction and aims to become a transformative landmark that revitalizes the surrounding area, ensuring both day and night activity by coordinating and integrating the schedules of its various functions.

São Paulo-based firm SIAA Arquitetos has been named the winner of the national competition organized by AESabesp for the new São Paulo Water Museum, which involves the restoration and expansion of the former water and sewage department (RAE), currently the França Pinto reservation center.

The winners of the 2020 Wood Week Competition have been announced. The multidisciplinary open call invited participants to submit wood-focused projects in seven categories: Architecture, Design, Engineering and Construction, Innovation, Wood Startup Challenge, Built Works, and Photography. Wood Week (Semana de la Madera) is an annual event organized by Madera21, an association founded in 2001 by the Chilean Wood Corporation to promote and raise awareness about the use of this material in Chile.

Every year, we host a call for graduation projects open to our audience in all Portuguese-speaking countries. Through this, we aim to select the most interesting projects to present inspiring visions and debates for the fields of architecture and urbanism.

For the eleventh consecutive year, ArchDaily celebrated the best of Latin American architecture, presenting the Building of the Year award to architects Barclay & Crousse (Peru), Felipe Assadi (Chile), and Natura Futura + Frontera Sur Arquitectura (Ecuador). The winning and distinguished entries have been announced for the "Arquitectura Argentina Solidaria" (Solidarity Argentine Architecture) competition. Organized by the Central Architects' Society (SCA) and the Professional Council of Architecture and Urbanism (CPAU), this national call invited architects and collaborative teams from across the country to submit ideas, initiatives, proposals, projects, works, and research completed over the last ten years centered on solidarity and inclusion. Bringing together the collective knowledge and reflections of professionals nationwide, the primary goal of this call was to address the emerging needs of society's most vulnerable sectors, now further exacerbated by the pandemic.

The San Cristóbal local town hall, located in southeastern Bogotá, is currently situated in a mixed-use area of the San Blas neighborhood. It sits in close proximity to a school, a parish church, a community development center, residential complexes, and the local Metropolitan Park.

Despite its privileged location relative to surrounding properties, the town hall building is a designated heritage site. Participants in the public design competition for the new headquarters, organized by the SCA (Sociedad Colombiana de Arquitectos), had to consider all these aspects in developing their proposals. Estudio Territorios was awarded first place, followed by FP Arquitectura in second, and EMS Arquitectura in third. Below, we take a closer look at their proposals.

The winners of the International Preliminary Design Competition "A Place for Quarantine" have been announced. Organized by Architecture Eyes and sponsored by Revista Trama, the competition invited architects to design an "ideal" minimal house for two people to inhabit during the period of social isolation, rethinking the ways we relate to space, others, and ourselves.

The Architects' Association of the Province of Córdoba has called on architects across the province to collectively contribute ideas to address the current challenges associated with the spread of COVID-19—primarily the lack of adequate healthcare space to treat patients as the disease spreads—seeking to create a space for collective development nourished by the discipline's expertise to offer a response to society through the field of architecture.

This year in Mexico, the National Workers' Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit) launched the Seventh Student Competition 2020, proposing the study of issues at different scales to develop housing, environmental, and locational strategies and solutions for the country's most troubled housing developments. The competition seeks new ideas as well as an academic dialogue, offering participants the opportunity to interact with users and their surrounding habitat to understand, analyze, and propose practical transformations through empirical research and interdisciplinary professional guidance.

Mi Tren's Line 3 is one of the most significant public transit projects for the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG), aligning with the Government of Jalisco's commitment to achieving integrated mobility that connects riders quickly, accessibly, and safely. Line 3 will enable travel to the historic centers of Guadalajara, Zapopan, and Tlaquepaque in a single trip. This new light rail system is projected to handle 233,000 trips per day. In addition to serving residential areas, Line 3 is designed to connect key educational, administrative, commercial, and tourist infrastructure.

In Colombia, some companies have not only boosted the development of their digital platforms but have also improved home delivery and consulting services, supporting architects, builders, and customers throughout the purchasing process from their own homes.

Founded in 2013 in Mexico City, David Pompa is a studio comprising designers, engineers, and makers based in Mexico and Austria. David Pompa grew up in both countries and studied product design in London. Over time, the studio has shown a strong interest in traditional materials and techniques, maintaining a commitment to Mexican culture since its inception, which is reflected in its creation of aesthetic and accessible design objects.

On Wednesday, December 16, Panel Rey brought together architects from across Mexico for its fifth annual New Year's toast in Monterrey, Nuevo León. This year, a special recognition was presented to architect Bernardo Hinojosa, who has an impeccable career of more than 46 years in the profession, with more than 1,750,000 square meters of planned projects spanning commercial, office, educational, sports, urban, industrial, and residential architecture.

Yesterday, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá shared on social media the first images of the Santa Clara Hospital renovation, which is part of the San Juan de Dios hospital complex in the Antonio Nariño district. They also announced the signing of the start-of-work agreement for its construction and renovation.

Directed by Gerardo Panero, the documentary narrates the life and work of architect Amancio Williams, a key figure of the Modern Movement in Argentina. Amancio played an undeniable role in renewing the country's architectural ideals, gaining global recognition for his ideas and projects. Among these is the famous Casa sobre el arroyo (House on the Brook), designed in collaboration with his wife Delfina Gálvez de Williams between 1943 and 1946 in the city of Mar del Plata. Although many of his proposals were never built, his ideals and explorations brought about significant changes in the understanding of ways of living, technique, and aesthetics, leaving a valuable legacy for future architects.
