My City, My Home: Short Story Contest - Call for Submissions

Where we live plays a role in who we are. It influences where we go to school, where we work, who we hang out with, everything. According to the United Nations, almost 75% of everyone on earth will live in a city by 2050. This move to a high-density living will push architecture and the urban experience to its max.

While some people may fear this movement and Hollywood loves to portray the dystopian possibilities; there is also an opportunity for beauty. Billions of people will have new stories and experiences to share and collect. These experiences will be multi-cultural and unrestricted by physical distance. All of this will be influenced by the design of our current and future cities.

Write a short story that captures the emotion, movement, and culture of where you live. How do your characters respond to a world destined for mass urbanization? It can be fictional or based on a true story.

Whether you live in a small community or a bustling downtown, you are impacted by the way your environment has been designed. How does it affect the way you work, eat, sleep, and live?

Craft your story, make it unique and impactful, we can't wait to read what you create.

JUDGING CRITERIA
Short story submissions will be evaluated based on originality, mastery of the brief, and their power to express the intent & perspective of the author. We understand that not everyone is a native English speaker. Do not let your English writing skills deter you from participating. Short stories are judged based on the storytelling and quality of the characters, not merely on grammar or spelling.
