Open Call: Interior Architect/Designer for London's Fish Island Village

The Trampery is London's leading provider of workspace and support for creative entrepreneurs with a reputation for sumptuous and boldly-designed interiors. We are looking for an interior designer or architectural practice to work with us on the interior for Fish Island Village. The scheme represents London’s largest new development of affordable creative studios and The Trampery’s most ambitious project since its formation in 2009:

- 50,000 square feet
- 6 acre canalside location in Hackney Wick
- Spread across 14 buildings
- Ceiling heights up to 20 feet
- 74 studios from 300 to 3,000 square feet
- Open plan workspace with 50 desks
- Cafe-bar with canalside terrace
- Members lounge with drop in facilities
- Event and meeting spaces
- Manufacturing workshop with garment and furniture facilities

The budget for the interior fit-out is £4.7 million. Studios and manufacturing facilities will need a simple functional solution with carefully chosen signature details. Meanwhile the shared spaces including the cafe-bar, members lounge and open plan workspace should have a bolder, playful, more theatrical treatment that will establish a distinctive visual personality for Fish Island Village. Overall we aim to create an inspiring new landmark for London’s creative industries. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

- Minimum 3 years professional experience
- Portfolio including workspace and/or hospitality projects
- Demonstrated ability to deliver highly creative interior solutions within tight budget

For full details and an application form please email Kajal Gotecha with the subject “Fish Island Village Interior”. We are not requesting a fully-worked design concept at this stage, just a short 5 page application. The deadline for receiving applications is 11:59pm on Sunday 21st January 2018. The expected contract value is £20-30,000.

The Trampery is a social enterprise with a mission to support entrepreneurs from all backgrounds. Facilities at Fish Island Village will be offered at the lowest rates possible. Priority will be given to creative businesses based in Hackney Wick who are losing their studios due to redevelopment. 25% of the space will be allocated to under-represented communities including ethnic minorities, female founders and disabled entrepreneurs.

Fish Island Village is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Legacy for Growth programme.
