Generazione: a Call From Rome

The series will start next Friday, and the lectures will be every month up to June 2017 in Rome, at Casa dell’Architettura.
The participants - all born in the Eighties - will be paired in couples, in order to obtain an interesting dialogue in each and every meeting.

About the lecture, we would like to promote a dynamic and "short" format.
We are asking to make the main references [architectural and non-architectural] emerge as much as possible, to show how they affect each one practice.

At the end of the lecture, each participant will show an house project.
The site of the house will be located in the Roman countryside, and we are asking all the participants to show it for the conclusion of their lectures in Rome.

The site we have decided is generic in its own specificity, being the general location assigned, but the particular area decision up the participants.

Locating the intervention inside such defined sphere, we aim to ensure a particularly evident reference.
The Roman countryside has been for centuries a Locus Amenus, a sort of anthropized Arcadia, free from the urban tasks, but eventually became a place of retreat for emperors and popes.

A scenario both connected and disconnected with Rome, whose borders have been always considered ambiguous and undefined.

We invite to join this design exercise because we find important to establish a confrontation over a common typology, a classical topic, but not for this anachronistic. A topic that bring us back to the autonomy of the discipline, but without anesthetizing it, rather trying to recover its regardless strength.
