Applications are open for the Art Residency Grants in Oficinas do Convento - Cultural Association for Art and Communication (OC) in Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal. We have launched three vacancies for Art Residencies to take place between September and December 2016.
This Contest for Grants by OC intends to implement a self-funded program through the application fees. The application have a 20 euros fee and this amount will be used to create the three Residencies.
Artists from all areas, architects, engineers and designers are invited to submit their proposals for projects to be developed in residency regime in the areas:
Earth Architecture
Ceramics
Sound Sculpture
Proposals for Earth Architecture should seek to investigate new products and new applications of earth material in Architecture and Design. We will value proposals that can create new products to be produced by the Earth and Ceramics Workshops - Oficinas do Convento, seeking to address concrete problems and have an innovative and creative outline.
Proposals for Ceramics can be of artistic nature or design. The Earth and Ceramics Workshops can work in a very wide field of possibilities for ceramics, both low and high temperatures. Research to question the place of ceramics in contemporary art context and seeking to investigate new results and outcomes will be especially welcome.
For Sound Sculpture, we seek highly innovative and creative projects that seek disciplinary intersections and can be performed and presented in the period of residency.
Participants must submit their Work Proposals for the areas described, freely. We will prioritize work seeking a relationship with the context of the city of Montemor-o-Novo, both in terms of landscape, heritage and community.
The best proposals will be evaluated by an international jury of artists and other professionals in the artistic fields.
The winners of the 3 Art Residency Grants will be allowed to work in the Oficinas do Convento's studios, will get a Budget (300 €) to use in the necessary resources for the development of the project, as well as its implementation, presentation and promotion.
The Residencies will last no long then one month and residents will have accommodation in Montemor-o-Novo, workspace in one of Oficinas do Convento's studios and the Budget for production costs.
The remaining expenses are the responsibility of the resident.
At the end of each residency, the results will be presented publicly in an exhibition to be held in Montemor-o-Novo in 2017.
The work produced will be the property of authors, who give from now on to the Oficinas do Convento the right to use any images of the process or results.
