The intervention was sustained in a value judgment about the relative importance of pre-existence. This judgment found himself rooted in its own history. The study presented assumed the demolition of the building volume corresponding to the old cold stores, which were in an advanced state of degradation to give way to the volume of tourist complex housing units, without distorting the global nature of the building together. Such substitution has enabled a new set built that, coupled with the volume which remained ensures not only recovery, but also the qualification and revitalizing this property classified as Cultural Heritage and all its area of influence.

The new volume for the accommodation units is understood as an operated intervention at a given time, assuming as another phase or stage in the temporal evolution of this emblematic building, asserting its autonomy in terms of internal functioning, but showing a natural dialogue with the pre-existence, and the nearby surroundings, since it preserved the existing facades to the south and west, and part of the facade in the East street corner.

It sought that the visual language of the new construction did not come into competition, or that constitute a mimetic plagiarism of the architectural language of the existing building, thus having a highly abstract character and unit, which vanishes in the translucency of its facades, turning into mirror of its surroundings.

A volume that houses the back office and the hotel director's office, dominates the space of the foyer. In front of this volume is located the reception desk. On top of this volume you can find a bar with access through the existing balcony on the 1st floor. The volume facing the Dom Pedro V street, is where the the suites, restaurant, dining room and breakfast are located. The link between the lobby and restaurant is done through openings with generous dimensions The choice of this location of the restaurant is related to the interest in enhancing its "openness" to the outside, as it has direct access to the street, the entrance located on the volume of street corner.;
