Text description provided by the architects. Following the end of commercial mining in Alsdorf, the centrally-located industrial premises of coal mine „Anna“ will be converted into an attractive residential and commercial area which will include the "Anna Park“.

As part of the development, we created a design concept to convert the mine‘s blacksmith and change&washroom buildings into "Energeticon" - an exhibition designed by Stuttgart-based "Atelier Brueckner" focussing on energy-related topics - not only showcasing the history of mining but also allowing visitors to experience basic principles of energy and learn about trendsetting and forward-looking technologies.

The architectural goal was to enhance the existing building substance without obliterating its historical past. The new external staircase outside the change&washroom and the „black box“ adjacent to the blacksmith building can be clearly identified as new and modern extensions.
