Log 24 is a compilation of architecture criticism that exemplifies the range of criticism today. Encountering buildings, exhibitions, films, and books, twenty authors disentangle the challenges and problems the work poses to the critic and the architect, as well as render an incisive portrait of contemporary architecture.
The special emphasis on architecture criticism in Log 24 is due to belief in the necessary value of the critic and thoughtful criticism, not only within architecture itself, but also in an age of excess of information. The call for submission asked ,”What does it mean to write architecture criticism? Are there projects that cause reappraisal of architecture?” This issue does not attempt to answer those questions directly. The intent was not analyze criticism but to produce criticism , to take on the action of criticism through physical and mental participation in an object of inquiry in ways that must suggest answers to those questions.
