Text description provided by the architects. A long name for a project that was born with the image of a surgeon using a scalpel to open up the roof, bringing height and light to the top-floor apartment of the building to be renovated. The peculiar situation of the plot—tucked into a city block and sharing a party wall with a noble, taller building—would shape the entire project. The property faces Gamboa Street, which provides access to the ground floor, and features a narrow opening on Ballesta Street that leads through a courtyard to the first-floor entrance and an outdoor staircase heading up to the apartment.
