Text description provided by the architects. The real estate and construction boom that hit Lima starting in 2000 drastically transformed the city. This growth occurred with few regulations and without an urban plan to facilitate discussions on fundamental aspects of living. The result has been an invasion of bland, so-called “multifamily” buildings that began in Lima's most established areas and expanded across the rest of the city. Most of these buildings suffer from poor design, conceived solely from a real estate business perspective to capitalize on a booming economic period where anything would sell. This building is a critical response to that situation—a sui-generis collective housing project in the heart of the central Miraflores district.
