Text description provided by the architects. The project's registration in the Lisbon Municipal Archive dates back to 1890. From the moment we gained access to the archives and the building, it became clear that there were significant heritage values to protect and rehabilitate, given the relevance, era, and overall quality of the original 1890 design, as well as the building's state of preservation, which had undergone minimal typological alterations. These characteristics led us to opt for an almost invisible intervention, in a sort of attempt to erase our own presence. To achieve this, we employed a series of subtle devices and small alterations that could enhance the spaces, forms, and materials to improve residential use. The main design concepts and the various areas of intervention were developed in accordance with the following principles.
