Text description provided by the architects. It is objects, rather than architecture, that construct contemporary domesticity. The distribution, composition, or correlation between room and function—a condition invented by modernity—has ceased to coordinate the efforts that generate the domestic sphere. In a pre-modern state of domesticity, it was furniture that generally defined the domestic events building the idea of home, rather than its division into rooms, which, along with zoning and programmatic specialization, has established a global homogenization of daily routines for over a century.
