Territorial Context. The Geoparque Geological Park is located in the city of Tocopilla, Antofagasta Region, Chile. The city is a settlement situated on the rugged coastal geography of the Atacama Desert, comprising a narrow coastal plain (averaging 600 meters wide), bordered to the east by a vertical cliff rising over 600 meters high, known as the "coastal cliff" (farellón costero), and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. This project is located at the foothills of the cliff in the southern sector of the city, within a large urban expansion zone.
