Text description provided by the architects. Located in the heart of Valparaíso's Barrio Puerto, on the south side of Plaza Echaurren, the project involved restoring the original building, its structure, elements, and ornamental details to rehabilitate the historic Emporio Echaurren. Dating back to the early 20th century, the construction is characterized as a corner building with a continuous two-story facade from street level. The structural system is mixed, dominated by stone walls in the basement, brick masonry on the first-floor perimeter walls, and wood and adobillo (timber frame with clay and straw infill) on the second-floor walls.
