Text description provided by the architects. The urban project known as Plaza de la Marina Mercante (Merchant Marine Square) was born from the need to create a space for outdoor recreation and to promote the culture of open public spaces, especially along the waterfront with its unparalleled views of Veracruz's commercial port. It also aims to connect the western breakwater of the outer harbor with the seaside corridor of the boulevard leading toward the city center.
