Text description provided by the architects. The design for SOLO—a new café in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, whose name stands for Sustainable, Organic, and Local (Sustentável, Orgânico e Local)—started with an existing clay-toned tiled floor. Following the complete demolition of the former millwork, the intervention was conceived around a diagonal counter that splits the narrow shop into two halves: one dedicated to service, and the other for tables arranged alongside a continuous bench stretching across the space.
