Text description provided by the architects. The house is located on the outskirts of Suesca, Cundinamarca, on a plot overlooking the Suesca Cliffs and the flanking Bogotá River. The owners are a young couple of rock climbers and their 2-year-old son. As a generative idea conceived between clients and architects, the project draws on the knowledge developed by Craig Ellwood's Case Study Houses in California—modular, budget-friendly, and simple-to-build homes where “less is more”—but in this case, it evolves to adapt to the characteristics of the site and local materials. The concept is that of a compact and modular shelter-viewpoint overlooking the cliffs, which sits on the ground aiming for minimal impact. Its geometry of pure forms stands as a testament to human intervention in contrast to the organic natural environment of the valley, the river, and the rock formations.
