Text description provided by the architects. In 2011, the firm acquired a large house in the quiet Del Valle neighborhood. Despite being landmarked and a magnificent example of 1930s Californian-style architecture, it was in a clear state of deterioration. Nevertheless, the original real estate development plan—to demolish and rebuild—was successfully modified to fully rescue the pre-existing house. The relationship between the restored architecture and the newly created architecture became the backbone of the project.
