Local Housing, a web platform for assisted collaborative self-construction projects

The NGO Vivienda Local, which works through collaborative self-construction in Chile, has launched a website to monitor the progress and stages of its active projects. The platform is designed to streamline operations and enhance communication between the architects using this methodology and the self-building families.

“One challenge we have encountered while working with the Collaborative Self-Construction Program is establishing a quality standard for deliverables among architects, as everyone has their own way of working. To address this, we decided to integrate architectural drafting as a service for the architects themselves. This way, all drawings are produced in the same technical office and reviewed together; if any modifications are needed to meet local regulations, we coordinate with the architect to decide on the next steps. The goal is always to respect the sponsors’ original design,” notes Sebastián Becerra, president of Vivienda Local.
