The student collective Post_Arq from the Leopoldo Rother Architecture Museum at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia has shared their interview with Daniel Feldman. This is part of a series featuring seven Colombian architects, including figures like Sebastián Serna, Santiago Pradilla, Leonardo Álvarez Yepes, and Lorenzo Castro, among others, available on their channel.
Description provided by the collective. From Bogotá's Industrial Zone, in the home-studio of the founder of ZITA, we spoke with architect Daniel Feldman about his itinerant and independent approach to practice, community development processes, and materiality. The Universidad de Los Andes alumnus shared his interest in rural areas and architecture as a tool for self-dignification in these contexts. The conversation also addressed the preservation and renovation of heritage and post-industrial urban environments, which, through shifting urban dynamics, could incorporate mixed uses.
Feldman, winner of the Young Architects in Latin America award at the Venice Architecture Biennale and the BIAU for the El Guadual Children's Development Center, emphasized the importance of valuing what already exists, as it provides unique value and is directly linked to community engagement processes.
