Arqguia Colorir is a digital coloring book that invites everyone to visually reinterpret the main architectural landmarks of Rio de Janeiro. Available for free download in both English and Portuguese, the drawings feature QR codes providing direct access to descriptions of each work on the online architecture guide ArqGuia Rio.
Conceived by architects and urban planners Douglas Pestana, Isabela Ledo, Lucas Franco, and Maria Fernanda Duarte, from the Arqguia Rio and MT – Arquitetura teams, the book aims to provide moments of creativity, interaction, and family fun during the period of social isolation due to the novel coronavirus and the months leading up to the resumption of school routines. “In addition to its playful aspect, the project also aims to spark interest, especially in children, in Rio's rich architectural and cultural heritage,” says Lucas Franco.

Arqguia Colorir is launched in a special context: the city of Rio de Janeiro is the first World Capital of Architecture, a title endorsed by UNESCO, and will host the 27th World Congress of Architects (UIA2021RIO) in July 2021. Under the theme “All Worlds. One World. Architecture 21,” UIA2021RIO is the largest and most important international forum for architects.

The initiative has the institutional support of the City of Rio de Janeiro, through the Rio 2020 World Capital of Architecture Committee-UNESCO UIA, the Executive Committee of UIA2021RIO, the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB), and the Council for Architecture and Urbanism of Rio de Janeiro (CAU/RJ).
