A native of Castellammare di Stabia, in Naples, Italy, Gasperini was born on August 20, 1926, and moved to Brazil in 1949, where he completed his degree in architecture and urbanism at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He held master's and doctoral degrees from the University of São Paulo, where he was also an associate professor. He was a senior partner at the firm Aflalo & Gasperini Arquitetos.
