The 12 selected projects in the professional category, as well as the three in the student category, will be featured in an exhibition at the headquarters of the Instituto Tomie Ohtake, on display from October 17 to December 1, 2019, and will have their work published in a catalog. The winners will be announced at the opening of the exhibition, with professional category winners receiving international travel awards and the selected student receiving an internship at a renowned architecture firm.

Through this award, the Instituto Tomie Ohtake and AkzoNobel continue to map contemporary architectural production, highlighting significant projects built in the current Brazilian landscape for the sixth consecutive year. Urban integration, commitment to the site, sustainability, and design and constructive inventiveness are the core criteria guiding the 6th Instituto Tomie Ohtake AkzoNobel Architecture Award. Meanwhile, the student category, dedicated exclusively to unbuilt projects, centers on the theme "Revitalization, Requalification, Renovation." Eligible participants included students enrolled in undergraduate architecture programs recognized or authorized by the Ministry of Education (MEC), both Brazilian nationals and foreigners who have resided in the country for at least two years.

Since its first edition in 2014, the Instituto Tomie Ohtake AkzoNobel Architecture Award has received 1,155 project submissions. In the previous 2018 edition, first place went to Héctor Vigliecca (Vigliecca & Associados) for the Parque Novo Santo Amaro V residential project (São Paulo – SP), while Rodrigo Calvino (C + P Arquitetura) took second place with Hostel Villa 25 (Rio de Janeiro - RJ), and Carlos M. Teixeira (Vazio S/A) came in third with the Casa no Cerrado project (Moeda – MG).
