Applications are now open for the 2018 social housing public call from CAU/GO . Projects for housing for families with incomes of up to three minimum wages can be submitted until June 29.
Across the country, in addition to the housing deficit, there is a high rate of substandard housing. For this reason, the public call supports both new construction and renovation projects.
“This is an opportunity for professionals to put into practice the most important social role of architecture,” says Council President Arnaldo Mascarenhas Braga. “Promoting decent housing must be our ultimate goal, alongside the pursuit of a more suitable urban space for everyone.”
Nonprofit organizations with architects and urban planners in good standing with the Council on their staff are eligible to apply. This year, CAU/GO has allocated R$ 70,000 for the selected projects, with a maximum limit of R$ 35,000 per project.
The selected proposals will be announced on July 6, with the agreement scheduled to be signed on July 13. Project implementation must be completed by December 15.
2017 Edition
The public call stems from CAU/BR Resolution No. 94, which mandates that at least 2% of each state council's (CAU/UF) annual budget be allocated to Technical Assistance for Social Interest Housing (ATHIS) initiatives.
The inaugural CAU/GO Social Interest Housing call took place in 2017, when the council allocated R$ 60,000 to support two projects. One of them, by the Goiás regional campus of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), developed renovation proposals for the homes of 15 low-income families in the city of Goiás. The other project, developed by the State University of Goiás (UEG), provided technical assistance to eight families in Anápolis.
