Text description provided by the architects. Never has a tribute meant so much to a place. Since the 12th century, the payment of rents to the Monastery of Oseira from the coastal territories under its domain was the economic engine of the region. The Cistercian monastery owned more than a thousand properties, extending all the way to the coast of Marín. In 1151, King Alfonso VII had donated these lands to the monks.
