Text description provided by the architects. The client wanted a high-impact, low-cost design to create a casual store aligned with their concept of selling quality books online at low prices. Additionally, the space needed to be flexible to accommodate book launches and talks with authors. The proposed solution was to leverage the inherent beauty of the books themselves along the walls, while investing in a sensory ambiance. This was achieved through planes forming an intriguing geometry on the ceiling, with orange-toned lighting created by the reflection of the paint itself. This approach allowed the construction budget to be focused solely on drywall and paint, resulting in a striking retail space without high costs. To accommodate events, the design features mobile display islands on casters that can be moved to the back corridor or into storage, freeing up the space for other uses.
