This proposal has been designed by the architecture studios Lompreta Nolte Arquitetos and MEQUETRAFFIC , both from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The goal of Beton Hala Water Front Center Proposal – composed of temporary and permanent exhibition space; and commercial area – is to create an urban hub, which would connect urban key points surrounding the building. These key points are namely the Belgrade fortress, Kalemegdan Park, Beton Hala and Kosancicev Venac.

Beton Hala Waterfront Center Competition

The City of is launching an international one-stage architectural competition to design the Beton Hala Waterfront Center in Belgrade.

The Waterfront Center is envisioned as the principal new access point from the capital’s riverfront to its historic core, and a contemporary architectural anchor point for a vibrant pedestrian zone in one of the city’s oldest continually inhabited parts.

Center for Promotion of Science / SADAR + VUGA

The masterplan competition for the Center of Promotion of Science in , Serbia has produced another design, this time by architecture firm SADAR+VUGA. The design proposal is an urban development that incorporates the existing architectural programs on the site, while providing extensions and innovative additions to the site.

The urban project includes the existing Faculty of Drama Arts with its proposed extension, provides four new Faculties, a mathematics gymnasium, a science center with 50m tower, as well as the new building of the Centre of Promotion of Science. The buildings are arranged as eight islands on the site, among which five plazas are developed.

The Center for the Promotion of Science proposal by Zürich based architecture studio Dürig AG is based on the concept of  a New composed of an orthogonal grid of a unified structural system that embraces rationality and clarity.  The urban plan of the composition is to create defined individual building segments within the subdivided block of nine distinct segments. Within this development, Dürig AG has designed a Scientific Research Institute of which the Center for the Promotion of Science is an integral part.

Block 39: Centre for the Promotion of Science / RTA-Office

The project below is the Honorable Mention Winner, BLOCK 39: Centre for Science Promotion in , designed by RTA-Office. The public, cultural and college building was designed by RTA-Office’s teams in both Barcelona and Shanghai. The conceptual framework of the building is to generate an event: an institutional, urban expression pole that becomes an international lure. The studio seeks to achieve the occupation of the site and its transformation, to provide guidelines for a new fluid system of urbanism that liberates the space and repurposes it for an open, continuous program for its users.

A couple days ago, we featured Wolfgang Tschapeller‘s entry for the international competition initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. Now, Milos Zivkovic, Nebojsa Stevanovic, Janko Tadic, Aleksandar Gusic and have teamed up for this competition and shared with us their entry for The Center for Promotion of Science where they aim to mitigate the many problems New Belgrade creates for its citizens by creating different environments through a continuous movement within the space. The Ministry of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia initiated an international competition for a Centre for Promotion of Science and the urban development of Block 39 in New in Serbia. This design aims to be an institution of service and a national bank of knowledge in the field of science for the general public. The building is located in the elite and very quiet part of (Dedinje), known as the most beautiful and greenest part of town with both recently built and pre-war villas. Smetanina Street is a residential and commercial building that contains 14 flats, one small apartment and an office. All apartments and the office space on the ground floor have access to a large garden space.

Centre for Promotion of Science of Belgrade International Competition

One of the objectives of the Serbian Research and Development Infrastructure Initiative is to enhance the production of knowledge and scientific excellence by enabling Serbian research institutions and researchers to enhance their ability to generate, adapt and use new knowledge and become key actors contributing to the achievement of sustainable development, prosperity, and economic growth.

In line with this, the Ministry of Science and Technological Development initiated the creation of the new Centre for the Promotion of Science with the intention of bridging the gap between scientists and society as a whole, educating the younger generation and transmitting the scientific methods that affect building of a dynamic civil society open to the challenges of the future, and playing a key role in the better quality of life solutions and the affirmation of a knowledge-based economy in society as a whole.

The subject of the architectural competition is the preparation of the Preliminary Architectural Design for the new building: Centre for the Promotion of Science. It is also required to provide urban and architectural ideas for the remaining part of the Block 39, hosting the University Campus (e.g. Universities of : Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and the Faculty of Organizational Science). The Faculty of Dramatic Arts is already part of the Block 39. For more information, please go to the competition’s official website.

Ski Jumping Hill for Serbian Ski Resort

Our friend Djordje Pejkovic from sent us this interesting project, currently in development. The Jumping Hill is located in the Kopaonik Resort in central Serbia, close to the border with Kosovo. The 120 meter structure is made from cross steel tubes and every detail in the column is visible. The top is horizontally cut to accomodate a viewing platform with a coffee shop in the top deck.
