Weysen & De Baere Architects recently won a competition to design a multi-funcional hall with a daycare center and small library in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, at the outskirts of (Belgium). The building measures around 2.100m2, and spreads over 2 stories. The program occupies a significant part of the intervention site and in order to guarantee a building as compact as possible, the multifunctional hall is centered on the site. Antwerp Province Hall Proposal / SO – IL

Solid Objectives – Idenburg Liu (SO – IL), the New York-based firm of Florian Idenburg and Jing Liu, won the second prize in an invited competition for the new Province Hall of , Belgium. SO – IL was one of five finalists for this important governmental project organized by the Flemish Government Architect. Their proposal reshapes the modernist typology of ‘tower on plinth’ into a supple building volume that combines autonomy with connectivity. More images and project description after the break.

Community Center / SO – IL

Solid Objectives – Idenburg Liu (SO – IL), the architectural practice of Florian Idenburg and Jing Liu in New York, was awarded the first prize in an open call by the Flemish Government Architect to design an 500 m2 community center for a small village in Flemish-speaking Belgium. “Transforming Landscapes” Exhibition

Composed of works by Reiulf Ramstad Architects, the exhibition, “Transforming Landscapes”, opened at Sint-Lucas School of Architecture in , Belgium on October 12th and will be up until November 4th. A collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy in / L’Ambassade Royale de Norvège en Belgique, the event kicks off with a lecture by Reiulf Ramstad followed by the official opening and Vernissage.

Known as the largest school for architecture in Belgium, the uniqueness of Sint-Lucas School of Architecture stems from the combination of a long, rich tradition with a high reputation in architectural and design education. A large number of the leading Belgian interior designers, interior architects, architects, urbanists, artists and researchers, teaches at Sint-Lucas.
