Established in 2006, the annual Skyscraper Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious awards for high-rise architecture. It recognizes outstanding ideas that redefine skyscraper design through the implementation of novel technologies, materials, programs, aesthetics, and spatial organizations along with studies on globalization, flexibility, adaptability, and the digital revolution. It is a forum that examines the relationship between the skyscraper and the natural world, the skyscraper and the community, and the skyscraper and the city.

In its fifth year the Fentress Global Challenge invites young architects to explore future design possibilities in public architecture. This year the annual competition challenges students to envision The Airport of the Future, designing speculative projects for a future in which airports will have ever-more significance as facilities for travel, retail, leisure, national security and more.
Galeri Petronas, in partnership with the Austrian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, recently launched a travelling exhibition titled “Getting Things Done : Evolution of the Built Environment in Vorarlberg”.
The exhibition features 70 panels that showcase the evolution and current state of Vorarlberg’s distinctive built environment and GALERI PETRONAS is the first Asian stop and the only venue in Malaysia to host this global-touring exhibition.

"Queen Hur Memorial Park Construction Project" is promoted in joint as a result of the 2015 Korea-India Summit on reinforcing cultural and personal exchanges between the two countries. The project is to reorganize the existing Queen Hur Memorial Park located in Ayodhya, India, and to extend the park in the riverside area next to the memorial park to construct the memorial park newly for connecting to the adjacent urban fabric, and commercial and cultural facilities.

The City Above the City international wood design competition invites architects and students from all over the world to solve the challenges of urbanisation in both sustainable and humane ways.
Metsä Wood invites participants to submit their work for the City Above the City design competition by September 30th 2016. The prizes of the competition include one grand prize of 10,000 €, two second prizes of 5,000 € and five third prizes of 2,000 €. The top 10 entries will be published.
The workshop is organized by SADAS-PEA (Greek Architects Association) in order to promote the principle of environmentally friendly architecture. It is addressed to young architects and students of architecture. It will take place at the Stamos Stournas guesthouse near the city of Volos, Greece between September 17th and September 25th 2016.
This fall, the University Art Museum will present the Long Beach Mid-Century Modern Home Tour, on October 15, 2016, to benefit the 2017 exhibition, Frank Bros.: The Store That Modernized Modern. This tour (10:30am – 5pm) will highlight the modern architecture of Hugh Davies, Edward Killingsworth, Cliff May, George Montierth, Richard Neutra, and Raphael Soriano with nine stops throughout Long Beach!

CARTHA magazine is one of the 14 associated projects featured in this year’s 4th edition of the Lisbon Triennial entitled The Form of Form. The online architecture magazine based in Switzerland will dedicate three guest-edited issues to the Triennial and all three will then be presented in Lisbon in October. We will curate the CARTHA August issue, which will present our take on the topic The Form of Form.
The Center for Architecture and AIANY are currently accepting applications for the Stewardson Keefe LeBrun Travel Grant. The purpose of the grants is to further the personal and professional development of an architect in early or mid-career through travel. Travel plans should be focused on a selected topic of interest to the individual, rather than a part of a larger humanitarian or institutional endeavor. If appropriate, the winner may be asked to present at the Center for Architecture upon return.
