Shore to Core Design and Research Competition

Van Alen Institute and West Palm Beach launched Shore to Core, a design and research competition to reimagine the West Palm Beach downtown and understand how cities impact wellbeing. In the design competition, two finalist teams will be selected to participate in a 3-month design process and receive $45,000 to develop their work. The research team will receive $40,000 to develop their work, $10,000 to implement their pilot study.

Shore to Core asks:

How can we recreate an urban core so its design is intelligent, flexible, and responsive to the needs of residents and visitors?

How can we create cities that are not only resilient, but also support the wellbeing of individuals and communities?

Teams are encouraged (but not required) to pre-register their interest by 11:59 PM ET on Wednesday, July 27 here. Project updates and any answers to questions submitted about the request will be emailed to team leads who have pre-registered.

The deadline for registration and electronic submission of the Request for Qualifications is 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, August 21, 2016.
