What a pleasure to see a contemporary house that demonstrates all the virtues of the mid-century modernist design philosophy – symmetrical, clearly bounded volumes, generous use of glass curtain walls, delight in rich materials arranged simply, linear layout, limited but sensuous contact with the earth (that beautiful little void and its tree), thoughtful placement of a water feature. A shame that a little mid-century drabness has crept in with the use of curtains rather than roller blinds or some more technical solution for controlling light.
